St. Vincent de Paul Society is a Catholic lay organization that allows its members (called Vincentians) to join together to grow spiritually by offering person-to-person service to those who are needy and suffering.
In Ann Arbor the St. Vincent de Paul Society serves the community through our Thrift Store and our Office and we’re based at St. Thomas Church. Our services are extended to everyone who lives in Washtenaw County.
The Thrift Store, on Broadway, is in the oldest commercial building in Ann Arbor. We have a large selection of very gently used clothing, shoes, jewelry and house wares. Store sales pay for the overhead costs and helps us to supply clothing and other things to those in need.
The Office is located in the parish offices at St. Thomas the Apostle Church on Elizabeth Street. Office hours are 9:00 am to 11:00 am Tuesday through Friday. We assist with bus tokens, clothing vouchers, prescription vouchers, work shoe vouchers, referrals to other social agencies. We also offer prayer, time and attention to those in need.
We are in partnership with Friends in Deed and Hope Clinic and through them we are able to offer assistance with utilities, rent, furniture and other items.
